This highly interactive, all day comedy workshop (or held over 2 consecutive days) for any person interested in stand up comedy and/or applying proven stand up comedy techniques to your personal and business life.

Stand up comedy is an art and science. Laughter is a gift and a useful tool. The FunnyFest workshop will make you think, work and improve. These universal principals you can apply in your business and everyday life.

The training will benefit you on a daily basis as you interact with others in meetings, business and personal levels. The Comedy Workshop 101 is taught by professional stand up comics that have performed in at least 1500 shows each.

What types of COMEDY WORKSHOPS does FUNNYFEST offer?
FunnyFest offers 4 workshops:

  1. Stand Up COMEDY WORKSHOP 101 (crucial basics) 4 - 6 hours (with a break)
  2. Stand Up COMEDY WORKSHOP 102 (intensive and comprehensive) 2 days x 4 hours each (with a break)
  3. Business of Comedy – all the answers, procedures, techniques and methods to conduct your comedy as a business. It includes a lengthy list of do’s and don’ts
  4. Humour in the Workplace --- A groundbreaking workshop addressing what humour is and how to seamlessly weave it into the fabricate of the workplace. Humour will then help with critical thinking and create breakthroughs, which will elevate your communication with all stakeholders, such as: employees, clients and contractors

COMEDY WORKSHOP 101 & 102 will include extensive training. Here are JUST some of the KEY areas you will master:

  1. the basics
    - Development – attitude - perspective -stage presence - what is? - The decisive ways to overcome stage fright - mic technique - stage, club and business etiquette
  2. the tools
    - Universal funny – your funny world – funny is as funny does – types of funny
    -writing and writing exercises.
    -How to remove unnecessary words to get more LPMs (laughs per minute) and build a stronger set
    -how to improv on stage – how to spritz
    -timing - not using stock lines – originality
    - Brain storming
    -clean or dirty? How to do corporate (where the big $$ is)
    -shuffling your act (to be explained at the workshop)
    -divorcing yourself from old bits
    -emceeing. The spot many people and comics fear is the one spot that makes most people better presenters and comics become headliners. How to emcee is a very important aspect of being an opener, middle act or feature headline act. If you can learn to kill here, you will excel at any public speaking engagement
  3. The focus segment (is on your success)
    The intense segment! We will work together to cut and add … while you produce your presentation on the spot - your style – build your presentation with humour – safety nets – going all the way – the groove / the magic
    This will also be an interactive segment wherein you will have the opportunity to write a 5-minute presentation or shell to insert the facts or comedy routine with new bits. Your writing will be constructively reviewed so you can edit prior to presentation. As well you can have an existing presentation or act broken down, dissected and critiqued by veteran comics and your comedy peers. This outside scrutiny will give you a POV of what you are doing right and wrong to help make you a better presenter with funnier delivery
  4. The video
    This tool is worth a million words. Watch it over and over again to see what you do right and most importantly what you do wrong.
