Star-studded stooges take to the stage at FunnyFest 2010

May-05-2010

FunnyFest is more than just a festival – it’s a tribute to some of the world’s most notorious
comedic talent.

Performers from around the globe have flown to Calgary to take part in this 11-day comedy
extravaganza.

“There’s something for everyone,” says Stu Hughes, Executive Director of FunnyFest. “From high brow
to low brow and everything in between.”

On Fire Satire

For notable performers like Will Durst and Ron Vaudry, politics are the name of the game. The
headliners are considered two of America’s foremost political satirists; cracking whips and making
quips at the expense of the famously misguided administration of the United States and their
condoning northern brethren.

These comics are enraged and outrageous. Their intelligent and witty interpretations of political
and social issues will have you rolling in the aisles at the foolhardy scandals that characterize
our political environment.

According to Hughes, “comedy, like most popular culture, is a reflection of the society that
creates it. It uses humour to capture the truths behind all the craziness in the world and
encourages an optimistic perspective.”

Festival Favorites

Returning to the stage for the 10th annual FunnyFest are all-time festival favorites like,

Chris Fairbanks – award-winning actor/comedian.

Kelly Taylor – four-time FunnyFest Favorite and two-time Canadian Comic-of-the-year.

Tommy Savitt – winner of the 2008 Seattle-International Comedy Competition and 2007 Boston Comedy
Festival.

With only five days left in the Olympics of Laughter, time is running out to see some of the
world’s most renowned comics.

More than 70 participating comics offer a range of comedy; from bawdy shticks to ‘fun for kids’.

The party ends on May 9, so get your tickets to the 10th annual FunnyFest, Western Canada’s largest
comedy festival.

At $15 a ticket, it’s a penny a laugh.
